Reece Oxford Status...
Clearly does not fit into Pellegrini's future plans...
Is it a football decision...based on his perceived abilities and future development...
Are there other off field issues that we don't know about...???
Once regarded as a future long-term Hammer he's now not seem part of future plans by boss
Any ideas why...???

With Balbuna out for 6-8 weeks, surely he and Pask should be around the 1st team squad.

"but the defender will not be forced into signing for a team he does not want to join"

Why? Dagenham and Redbridge are just down the road so he wouldn't have to leave home.

Re: Reece Oxford Status...
His 4 year contract still has 2.5 years to go. He's not good enough for the PL and I can't think of many Championship clubs willing to pay him 20 grand a week. So if he's not willing to go on loan as suggested by this story, looks like Sullivan has to cut his losses and sell at any price, and/or pay the prick off. Judging by his performances lately,I can't see his team mates in the u23s being happy with his wages.
If Pellegrini has written him off for the first team, there must be a good reason when defensively we are in bare bones territory.

West Ham starlet Reece Oxford to hold talks with his agents as he looks to seal permanent move away

Reece Oxford will discuss his uncertain West Ham future in the coming days.

The talented defender will hold talks with representatives Colossal Sports Management ahead of making a decision on his next move.

Despite suggestions Oxford has split from his long-term management team, the 20-year-old remains a key client of the agency - who also look after Raheem Sterling and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It is understood the Hammers have mandated numerous agents to find Oxford a new club, but the defender will not be forced into signing for a team he does not want to join.

Instead, Oxford will thrash out this future with his existing agents in the coming days.

It seems clear West Ham are keen on offloading Oxford this month, but the youngster does not want to leave on loan.

Mate. I said getting him £20k p/w was good parenting.

IF (and I said if) they let that go to his head, that's bad parenting. But it doesn't make getting him the money bad, it just means they only did half the job.

Also, the young man is now 20. Four years ago is four years ago, now he has to take responsibility for his own actions.

Re: Reece Oxford Status...
Surface of you had a doubt your kid would make it but could get them a £20k a week contract and set them up for life wouldn’t you do it?

It’s not like they pushed for it and didn’t get it. They knew the kids value at the time and took full advantage.

Can we really say it is the money that has ruined him as a footballer? Is there any evidence of that happening in football?

I misread the thread title for a sec and thought it said 'Reece Oxford Statue".

I wouldn't put it past the senile pair of dwarfs.

Getting fed up of hearing about him to be honest. Just get rid, and don't expect much of a transfer fee. Put in a sell-on clause though, just in case.

Pwoper

Getting him £20k p/w = good parenting.

Blowing smoke up his arse and not keeping his feet on the ground (if true) = bad parenting.

Personally. I give even less of a shit about his parents than I do about Oxford.

Pee Wee

What if both he and his parents realised he wouldn’t make it and have seen the likes of Potts, Lee etc vanish down the lower leagues on tin pot cash.

Negotiating a £20k a week contract and setting him up for life before the age of 20 is pretty good parenting.

Or he will make it but elsewhere and continue earning that money.

Re: Reece Oxford Status...
It's clear to me that Pellegrini and his staff do not think that Oxford is good enough for match day squads even for some cup matches.
It can be looked at as a managerial failure or player failure but either way Oxford needs to move on and make way for one of our talented and more committed youngsters.

Re: Reece Oxford Status...
That he did not get on the bench this weekend, when he started in a similar light on centre backs situation a year ago, would say he has regressed and/or is leaving.

He does have the physical attributes to be a good centre half or DM, but then again, so did Doneil Henry.

Re: Reece Oxford Status...
The difference between Oxford and most other players at the same stage is Oxford is on extremely high wages and we can probably get a very good fee for him.

If no-one at the club sees he's going to develop any further then we should probably sell due to two reasons above.

If he was on £2k a week and worth nothing then we'd probably keep him
